Vonovia – Luka Mucic has been appointed CEO, succeeding Rolf Buch who will step down at the end of the year after more than twelve years leading the company. Mucic has been CFO and a member of the board of directors of Vodafone Group, London, since 2023, and a member of the supervisory board of Heidelberg Materials since 2019. Previously, Mucic was CFO of SAP SE from 2014 to 2023 and COO from 2014 to 2017. Prior to his appointment to the management board of SAP, Mucic held a number of leadership positions within the SAP Group, most notably as head of global finance and member of the global managing board from 2013 to 2014, CFO of the global customer operations business unit from 2012 to 2013, and as CFO of the DACH region and SAP Deutschland AG & Co from 2008 to 2012. Prior to that, he was responsible within SAP’s global finance and administration unit for merger and acquisition activities, global risk management and the legal department of SAP Markets Europe. Mucic began his professional career in 1996 in the legal department of SAP AG.
PGIM Real Estate – Rory Morrison has been appointed head of core strategies for the firm’s European platform. Based in London, Morrison will have strategic and operational oversight of PGIM Real Estate’s European core strategy, European core-plus strategy and the UK affordable housing strategy. His responsibilities will also include supporting business development teams on fundraising for these key core strategies. In this newly created role, Morrison will report to Sebastiano Ferrante, head of Europe. With over three decades of industry experience, Morrison joins from Invesco Real Estate, where he was managing director, responsible for their diversified pan-European real estate strategy. In the 24 years at Invesco, Morrison led numerous client mandates responsible for devising strategies, executing transactions and driving asset growth. He also held similar roles at Trillium and CB Hillier Parker.
Bouwinvest – Saskia van den Bronk has been appointed director of European Investments at Bouwinvest, where she will oversee pension fund bpfBOUW’s real estate investments across Europe, excluding the Netherlands. Previously, she served as capital markets director in the Netherlands at Patrizia, responsible for capital raising across various real estate and infrastructure strategies. Prior to joining Patrizia, Van den Bronk worked as a director at Sweco Capital Consultants and as commercial director at Sweco Netherlands. Earlier in her career, Van den Bronk gained more than 10 years of experience as a real estate developer across various real estate categories at major real estate companies in the Netherlands.
Patrizia – Simon Redman has been appointed head of product within the firm’s client division. Joining later this year from Invesco Real Estate, Redman brings over two decades of experience in investment strategy, product innovation and client solutions. During his 18 years at Invesco, he recently played a key role in expanding their real estate offerings for defined contribution and wealth management, developing new private market real estate strategies. Earlier in his Invesco career, he led the European client portfolio team.At Patrizia, Redman will lead the firm’s product strategy across real estate and infrastructure, with a focus on developing new investment solutions and enhancing the firm’s capital formation capabilities.
Investcorp – John McCarthy has been appointed advisory director. McCarthy will primarily focus on advancing the firm’s strategic priorities for its US and European real estate businesses. McCarthy comes to Investcorp from Starwood, where he served in various leadership roles across multiple entities over the course of 13 years. Most recently, McCarthy was chairman and board member of Starwood Credit Real Estate Income Trust, and vice chairman and board member of Starwood Real Estate Income Trust, where he was also the founding CEO, and previously was MD of global capital relationships at Starwood Capital Group. Beyond Starwood, McCarthy served in leadership roles across numerous leading global investment firms, including as deputy head of Europe at Abu Dhabi Investment Authority; global co-head of asset management at Lehman Brothers; head of Europe asset management at JP Morgan O’Connor Peabody Funds; and MD, CEE at GE Real Estate.
Feldberg Capital – Stefan Schade has been appointed director of investment. In this role, Schade will be responsible for Feldberg Capital’s industrial and logistics investments in Germany. Schade spent several years at Garbe Real Estate, where he was responsible for logistics and light industrial transactions. Earlier stages of his career included roles at Palmira Capital Partners, Jones Lang LaSalle and Duff & Phelps.
Westminster Property Association – James Raynor, CEO of Grosvenor Property UK, has been elected as chair of the Westminster Property Association. Raynor, who will be joined by newly appointed vice chair, Dan Nicholson, executive director at GPE, will serve a two-year-term guiding association’s policy work and engagement. Raynor, who previously served as the association’s vice chair, has over 30 years’ experience in the property industry. He joined Grosvenor in 2019 and spent nine years in Paris where he led international fund management activity before being appointed CEO of Grosvenor’s UK property business in 2020. He succeeds Marcus Geddes, managing director, workplace at Landsec, following his successful two-year tenure as chair. Kelly Cleveland, British Land’s head of real estate and investment has also been appointed to the board.
Stockland – Josh McHutchison has been appointed chief financial officer to succeed Alison Harrop. McHutchison is currently the CFO of Sydney Airport and has more than 30 years of experience in the property and finance sectors both in Australia and overseas. He had a long stint with Lendlease during that time, he was the chief financial officer of Lendlease Americas business and also held the role of managing director of Lendlease’s A$24bn Australian funds management platform and acting as the chief operating officer of Lendlease’s property business in Australia. Before Lendlease, McHutchison was CFO of UK based Arqiva and managing director of Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Estate Assets in London. McHutchison is expected to start on his new position in early August when Harrop will step down from her role.
Norges Bank Investment Management – Alexander Knapp, the chief investment officer for Europe at Hines, has been appointed head of global real estate. Knapp will lead the NOK363.58bn (€30.87bn) listed and unlisted global real estate investments and strategy. Knapp joins NBIM after over 16 years at global real estate investment manager Hines, where he served as the firm’s Europe CIO since 2019. Prior to being CIO, he held the position of senior managing director in the European living team and also led the Hines student accommodation platform, following five years in the Hines London office executive programme from 2009.
Burges Salmon – Jonathan Cantor has been appointed partner in the firm’s corporate and M&A team, with a focus on corporate real estate transactions. Cantor is a corporate and M&A lawyer, specialising in corporate real estate, indirect real estate investment and property joint ventures. He has more than 25 years of experience advising on domestic and international indirect real estate transactions, often involving complex due diligence as well as warranty and indemnity insurance issues. Cantor joins Burges Salmon from Dentons.
