Mayfair Capital Investment Management – Tim Munn, from CBRE Global Investors, has joined the specialist UK real estate investment manager as CIO. He will also join the board of Mayfair Capital, will officially join the business early next year. In addition to his CIO and board responsibilities, Munn will play a key role in overseeing new strategies and business development. Prior to joining Mayfair Capital, Munn spent two decades at CBRE Global Investors, where he was a member of the UK executive committee and head of inbound capital. Prior to this, he was director of operations - global separate accounts and was the lead director for several key UK pension fund mandates. Munn’s appointment enables Robert Palmer to relinquish the role of CIO and his other business management responsibilities. Palmer, who joined Mayfair Capital in June 2010, and has been CIO since 2014, has for some time wanted to focus on managing client money and will remain a key part of Mayfair’s investment team. Palmer will continue in the role of CIO until Munn officially starts.
UBS Asset Management Real Estate & Private Markets – Jonathan Hollick has been appointed to the newly created role of EMEA real estate CIO (excluding Switzerland). Hollick most recently held the dual roles of head of transactions UK and portfolio manager for the UK property fund Triton Property Fund. Hollick will also chair a newly-formed European growth group. Other promotions within the EMEA real estate business include that of Benoit Delaby, who will assume the new position of head of portfolio management in addition to his current role leading the customised mandates organisation, and Gijsbert van Riemsdijk, who has been appointed head of transactions.
Hines – The property developer has hired Alfonso Munk, the former Americas CIO at PGIM Real Estate, as the company reorganises itself to work more directly with large investors across global real estate markets. Munk, who recently left PGIM Real Estate, has become one of three regional CIOs, overseeing the Americas, alongside Alex Knapp and Lee Timmins who will look after Europe and Asia, respectively. Global CIO David Steinbach and capital markets CEO Chris Hughes will jointly lead the restructured platform.
M&G Real Estate – The commercial property arm of M&G Investments has combined its European investment and asset management teams under the leadership of Marc Reijnen in a newly created role as head of investment and asset management, continental Europe. Reijnen joined the Paris office in 2016 as head of M&G Real Estate’s continental European asset management team.
Industriens Pension – Søren Tang Kristensen, currently head of alternative investments at Velliv in Denmark, has been appointed as the new head of real estate at Danish pension fund Industriens Pension. He will start his new job on 2 January. Industriens Pension said Tang Kristensen will head up the expansion of the fund’s growing Danish property portfolio. At Velliv, formerly called Nordea Liv & Pension Danmark, he has also held the role of real estate director. Kenneth Olsen, Industriens Pension’s previous head of real estate, left the pension fund to start a new job on 1 September as CIO of the real estate arm of Denmark’s biggest pension fund ATP.
Avison Young – Marcin Purgal has joined the real estate services firm’s investment advisory department as senior director. Purgalwas recently a director in the capital markets department at Knight Frank. At Avison Young, Purgal will be responsible for sales and acquisitions of commercial properties conducted by the investment advisory team. He also previouls work at Savills.
LGIM Real Assets – Denizer Ibrahim has been appointed into the role of head of retail and futuring. He was most recently director, head of commercial placemaking and master planning at BNP Paribas Real Estate, prior to that he was at Appear Here and the London School of Economics Cities Programme. Ibrahim’s role is part of Legal & General’s strategy, ensuring that it continues to challenge retail market conventions.
BNP Paribas REIM – The company’s Munich office has appointed Thomas H Pohlmann to lead the sale team and with the support of Daniel Maric, acting as senior manager. Pohlmann previously worked for companies in the finance and real estate sectors as a manager for sales and customer care, including Real IS, The Royal Bank of Scotland, BlackRock and Natixis. Maric previously worked for MEAG, where he was responsible for institutional clients and their advisors at a domestic and international level. Prior to working for MEAG, he was part of the sales team at State Street Global Advisors and State Street Bank. The firm’s London office has appointed Niamh Canavan to take responsibility of the coverage of UK based Investors. Canavan started in investment banking in the financial institutions groups at Bank of America and HSBC and then spent three years as a credit research analyst at Cheyne Capital. More recently, Canavan worked for the US-based private placement agent, Hycroft Advisors and Hermes Infrastructure covering a pan-European base of institutional investors. In Paris, Vanessa Toledano has joined the team to focus on French institutional investors. Toledano was already with BNP Paribas REIM where she has worked for 13 years as a transaction manager.
Patrizia – Lionel Nicolas has been appointed country manager in France, in addition to his current position of head of transactions for Patrizia France and Italy. Nicolas joined Patrizia in 2015. Since then he has been responsible for the acquisition and sales programme across the region. He was previously managing director of Cordea Savills France and has also held positions at Macquarie Bank and Grosvenor Continental Europe.
Domicil Real Estate – The real estate investor has appointed Eckhard Schultz as its new CFO. Schultz, the long-standing CFO of LEG Immobilien will take up his position in January next year. He was a managing director of LEG from 2009 onwards, where he took up the position of CFO and deputy chairman in 2013. Before Schultz joined LEG he had also worked for the Schörghuber Group of Companies as the commercial managing director of the real estate division.
Orchard Street Investment Management – The specialist commercial property investment manager has promoted Dana Eisner to partner. Eisner joined Orchard Street in January this year to lead the business’ investor relations activities.
CBRE Group – Chris Connelly has been named CEO, advisory services, Americas, and Emma Buckland is being promoted to global president, property management, a position previously held by Connelly. Connelly, a 15-year veteran of CBRE, has held numerous leadership roles at CBRE. Buckland previously led CBRE’s property management business for the UK. Prior to joining CBRE in 2016, she led EMEA operations for analytics firm FICO and Goldman Sachs.
Morrison & Foerster – Thomas E Tether has joined the law firm in New York in its global real estate group. Tether joins from Lendlease Group where he served in various leadership roles during his more than 16 years with the company, most recently as general counsel for Lendlease Americas. At Morrison & Foerster, Tether will, among other things, counsel clients on real property acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures and partnerships, and the financing and development of all real estate asset classes.
Digital Colony – Leslie Wolff Golden has joined the company as managing director. Golden was most recently a managing director in the investor solutions group of Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets. Prior to joining Macquarie, she was a managing director at Ridgewood Energy, where she was involved with principal investing and portfolio management as well as all aspects of institutional investor relations. She started her career in investment banking with Lehman Brothers and subsequently worked at Bankers Trust and Bank of America (NationsBanc Montgomery Securities).
CMS – The international law firm has appointed Lukas Hejduk to head the company’s CEE real estate arm, replacing Wojciech Koczara after a five-year term. Hejduk is a partner based in the CMS Prague office where he has led the real estate practice for five years. He advises on a broad range of real estate-related projects and transactions, including real estate M&A, construction projects, development, leasing, sale and lease-back transactions and greenfield investments.
Immobel – The Belgium-listed property developer has appointed Michael Henn CEO of a newly created German arm Immobel Germany. Henn previously worked for Gerchgroup, where he was in charge of the operational management of real estate transactions.
