Savills Investment ManagementNick Cooper and Kiran Patel have taken over the roles of chairman and global CEO, respectively, from Justin O’Connor, on an interim basis. O’Connor, who has been with the firm for about 15 years, will leave and will not be relocating to Asia as was previously announced. Cooper was previously deputy chairman. Patel’s role as acting global CEO is in addition to his role as CIO. Savills said it has commenced the search for a new CEO.

Arjun Infrastructure Partners – Serkan Bahceci has joined the infrastructure investment advisory firm as partner and head of research. Bahceci is the former head of infrastructure research at JP Morgan Asset Management. Prior to joining JPMAM in 2007, Bahceci worked as a consultant at London Economics.

AMP Capital – Malcolm Brown has been appointed senior principal at AMP Capital’s global infrastructure equity business in London. He has also acted as a senior advisor to AMP Capital’s infrastructure business since 2015. Brown was formerly CEO of Angel Trains

Octopus Property – Steve Matthews has been appointed to head the specialist property lender’s buy-to-let sales. Matthews joins from Shawbrook Bank, where he was regional development manager, responsible for maintaining and developing relationships in short-term, specialist and commercial mortgage markets. Prior to that he held senior roles at the Co-Operative Banking Group and Skipton Building Society.

Hearthstone Investment Management – The residential property manager has appointed John Coles as asset manager. Coles will be responsible for managing the property portfolio of Hearthstone Residential Fund 1. Coles was most recently an asset manager for Mapeley Estates.

Syntrus Achmea Real Estate & Finance – The €20.8bn Dutch fund manager has appointed Arthur van der Wal as executive chairman as of 1 September. He is to succeed George Dröge, who has temporarily filled in the position since May 2017. Currently, Van der Wal is chief executive of Movir, the insurance arm of Nationale Nederlande (NN). Prior to this, he was a director for institutional clients at ING IM, CEO of pensions provider AZL as well as director of NN’s pensions business.

Legal & General – Eleanor Bucks will lead the newly created direct investment and real assets business within L&G’s retirement institutional arm. Bucks has been appointed managing director. Bucks has been CIO of Legal & General Retirement since March 2015. She joined L&G in 2009. 

JLL – Former Google executive Vinay Goel has joined JLL as chief digital product officer. In the newly created role, Goel is expected to help JLL clients drive business transformation. He served in global product leadership roles at Google. Earlier in his career, he was a country head of products for Google India.

MaxCap Group – The Australian non-bank commercial real estate lender has appointed Chris van Beek to the position of distribution director. Van Beek will be responsible for global capital raising. Formerly with Colliers International and CBRE, Van Beek was most recently with UBS Asset Management, where he was executive director, real estate and private markets for Asia-Pacific, based in Singapore.
