Barings – Joe Gorin has been named head of portfolio management and value-add investing in the firm’s US real estate equity business. Gorin will be responsible for refining and implementing Barings’ portfolio vision across client platforms with a particular focus on value-add investing strategies. Gorin will also join the US real estate equity group’s investment committee. Gorin was most recently a managing director at Goldman Sachs and served as the co-head of Goldman Sachs Asset Management’s private equity real estate group. Gorin previously served as MD and head of the US national portfolio at Rockwood Capital and prior to that was a VP at Equity Office Properties Trust.
Commerz Real – The €34bn asset manager has appointed Jens Böhnlein global head of asset management as it reorganises its merges its office and industrial division with its shopping segment. From June this year, Heike Beyer lead the new international asset management division. Beyer was previously the head of leasing and marketing at GLL Real Estate Partners.
Heimstaden – Michael Byrgesen Hansen has been appointed by the Swedish privately-held real estate investment firm as its country manager for Denmark, filling the gap left by Leif Boje Espesen. He has worked for the company since April as its head of asset management, and has been interim country manager for Denmark since January when Boje Espesen left. Byrgesen Hansen previously worked for the IKEA-linked INGKA Group for 14 years in various roles including development director in Europe, managing director in Spain and European regional asset manager. Heimstaden, which was founded by Norwegian businessman Ivar Tollefsen, said Byrgesen Hansen would formally start in his new role on 1 April but, as interim country manager, was already well underway with the new tasks.
AB Bostäder i Borås – Mikael Hansson has been hired by the Swedish municipal real estate company as its new chief executive. The firm, which is owned by the west Swedish city of Borås, said Hansson is replacing current chief executive Bengt Engberg, who is retiring. Hansson is currently chief executive of Swedish personal protective equipment firm Skydda Sverige, where he has worked for over ten years. AB Bostäder i Borås said he would take up the role on 1 August.
Logistics Capital Partners – The European logistics real estate investor has appointed Estelle Vargas as its development director to help broaden the company’s geographical presence in France. Vargas began her career in 2002 at Gazeley, where she worked as a developer specialising in logistics warehouses. She then joined Carrefour Property in 2015. LCP said partners Mathieu Olive and Emmanuel Mercier will manage its newly opened commercial office in Paris.
CapRock Partners – The California-based industrial real estate investment firm has appointed Craig Motichko chief financial officer. Prior to joining CapRock Partners, Motichko was vice president in the Newport Beach office of PIMCO, focused on financial control and treasury for PIMCO’s private equity investment funds including the firm’s North and South American real estate holdings. He also served as a senior manager in the audit practice at EY.
Dunmoore – Alex Marshall and Chris Brooksbank have joined the UK real estate investment and development firm as as development director and investment surveyor respectively. Marshall previously worked as a consultant to Dunmoore and will lead all of the projects in the portfolio, as well as source new opportunities alongside the investment team. Brooksbank was formerly a surveyor at Avison Young. Myles Hanson-Vaux has been promoted to finance director, having joined the company a year ago as head of finance from Vancouver-based City Office REIT.
