Hammerson – The UK REIT has appointed Simon Betty to the newly created role of managing director city quarters and developments. Betty is currently retail director for Ireland and the search for his successor has begun. Betty will retain his responsibilities for the Irish portfolio in the interim. In his new role, Betty will be responsible for driving the city quarters vision, which will see the group move beyond pure retail, delivering mixed-use neighbourhoods surrounding the group’s existing flagship destinations. He joined Hammerson in 2006 and has extensive experience across the business having worked across developments, retail parks, investor relations and group strategy prior to his current role in Ireland.
Mileway – The pan-European last-mile logistics real estate company has appointed three new country heads in France, Germany and the Nordics. Fabien Fridrici joins Mileway as France country head, having most recently served as regional director France at Segro for 10 years. From 2003, he spent 7 years at JLL, including as head of industrial assets. Georg Starck joins as Germany country head, having most recently served as CIO at Verdion, a UK/ German real estate investor, developer and asset manager. Starck previously worked at Schroder Property Investment Management, ING Real Estate Investment Management and Alpha Industrial, among others. Tomas Beck will lead Mileway’s business across Denmark, Finland and Sweden as Nordics country head. Before joining Mileway, he headed up the Nordic business at Cromwell Property Group. Prior to that he was responsible for the real estate portfolio at First Swedish National Pension Fund, AP1, and he has also held leading roles with Norwegian insurance group Storebrand and GE Real Estate. He began his career with DTZ.
Legal & General – The early-stage investment business of L&G has appointed Ben Rosewall to its later living business as head of investment and Dandi Li as investment manager. Prior to joining Legal & General Capital, Rosewall was senior director in the healthcare and retirement housing division at CBRE. Li previously held the role of senior associate at London & Regional Properties.
Pennybacker Capital Management – The real estate private equity firm has promoted Sam Mysock and Brett Zimmerman to vice president. Mysock has transferred from the Austin headquarters to Nashville, Tennessee to open the firm’s fourth office location. Mysock joined Pennybacker in June 2017 as a member of the firm’s investment team. Zimmerman joined Pennybacker in September 2015 as a member of the firm’s investment team. Prior to joining Pennybacker, Zimmerman completed the CBRE Wheel program. His real estate career began with an internship at HFF, where he served on the debt and structured finance team. Edvin Beasley has joined the firm as a managing director on the investments team. Beasley is based in the firm’s Austin headquarters and will focus on investments in the office sector. Beasley joins after spending nine years at Stream Realty Partners in Austin, Texas, where he was responsible for the strategic direction and operation of the office leasing division. Before joining Stream, Edvin worked for Trammell Crow Company in Washington, DC, where he represented landlords and tenants throughout the Mid-Atlantic in both suburban and urban markets. He began his career at Deloitte in the tax practice.
Savills Investment Management – Dougie Crichton has joined the global real estate investment manager as head of asset management, Malaysia. Crichton will be responsible for managing the existing relationships in the country and will play an important role in strengthening the group’s asset management capabilities. He joins from an advisory role to HSBC. He has over 20 years’ experience in South-East Asian real estate, having held senior roles at Farpoint, part of the Gunung Sewu Group; the Pamfleet Group in Singapore; and Hongkong Land.
