La Française – Philippe Depoux has been appointed chairman of La Française Real Estate Managers to take over from Marc Bertrand who has worked for the group for over 20 years. Depoux will also become a member of the executive board of the La Française group. These appointments will be submitted at the next supervisory board meetings of the two entities as of 30 September. Since 2017, he has been the managing director of Compagnie Lebon, director of the IEIF, the Club de l’Immobilier and the NGO PUI. His previous experience includes acquisitions, sales and appraisals at GAN Immobilier, GROUPAMA Immobilier, and subsequently global head of transactions at Axa REIM, he became CEO of Société Foncière Lyonnaise in 2006, and assumed the same role at Generali Immobilier France in 2009 and Gecina in 2013.
Amundi Asset Management – The French asset manager has appointed Dominique Carrel-Billiard to head its real and alternative assets unit. The deputy CEO of Amundi, is taking over the operational management of the €55bn real and alternative assets business line, which includes real estate, private debt, private equity and infrastructure. This business line was until now under the responsibility of Pedro Antonio Arias, who has decided to leave the group for an entrepreneurial project. Before joining Amundi in 2016, Carrel-Billiard was managing director of La Financière de l’Echiquier from 2014 to 2016. Prior to that he was managing director of AXA Investment Managers Group from 2006 to 2013, having joined the group in 2004. Previously, he worked for 12 years at McKinsey & Company where he was an associate director, specialising in financial institutions.
JLL – Aaron Knight has been appointed director in its debt and structured finance business in EMEA. Knight joins JLL from global investment management firm PGIM Real Estate where he was executive director responsible for European debt origination. At JLL, Knight will work closely with the existing debt and structured finance team to continue the expansion of JLL’s debt advisory capabilities in EMEA.
Moorfield Group – The UK real estate fund manager has appointed Jane Hollinshead as a non-executive director. Hollinshead is currently principal and founder of IJD Consulting. She previously spent 18 years at law firm Addleshaw Goddard as a partner, real estate sector head and a member of the governance board. She is currently non-executive director of Notting Hill Genesis Housing Association, where she is chair of its operations committee and a member of its nominations and remuneration committees. She is also a board member of Pathways to Property. Since January 2019, she has been a diversity and inclusion consultant to Knight Frank and has previously provided diversity and inclusion advice to the British Property Federation.
Orchard Street Investment Management – The specialist commercial property investment manager, has appointed Mark Russell as partner. His over two decades worth of experience, including 10 years’ managing L&G’s flagship £3.2bn managed property fund. Prior to his time at L&G, he was a portfolio manager at Prestbury. He started his career in the real estate industry at Jones Lang Wootton in 1996. He joins Orchard Street in October and will also become a member of the firm’s investment committee.
CA – The Chicago-based real estate investment management company has appointed Jimmy Hwang as executive vice president of investments and Jesse Ostrow as senior vice president of investments. Hwang is responsible for investment management activities across the medical office and life sciences division, as well as CA’s industrial and residential verticals. Prior to joining the company, Hwang served as a director in the equity advisory team at JLL. Before JLL, Hwang was a vice president at Evercore Partners in the real estate private capital advisory group. Ostrow is responsible for defining and implementing the vertical’s investment activities and overseeing acquisition, financing and sale transactions. Before coming to CA, he was CIO at MedProperties Group, a medical real estate investment, development and operating platform. He previously served as founder and managing principal of a boutique real estate investment consulting firm and, before that, held positions in real estate investment banking and private equity with Equibase Capital Group, Security Capital Research & Management and AG Edwards & Sons.
Cadogan – Kate Neale has joined the property manager as sustainability manager. She will play a key role in the sustainability of the 93-acre Cadogan estate. Neale joins Cadogan after four years at UK REIT Hammerson. She also previously oversaw sustainability commitments and energy compliance projects at Marks and Spencer and was a sustainability consultant for a private environmental consultancy.
