ATP, Dexus, JLL, L&G, CBRE, Niam, Qliro Group, Arctic Securities, Nuveen, Castleforge Partners
LGIM Real Assets – Rob Codling and Ali Farrell have been promoted to manage the firm’s managed property and segregated mandate funds respectively. Codling joined the business in 2012 and worked as an asset manager to L&G’s industrial property investment fund. He moves across from the role of fund manager to a segregated account, which he has steered since 2017. He was previously at JLL. Farrell will take over the role of fund manager to L&G’s segregated mandate fund, having been promoted from assistant fund manager of the managed property fund. Farrell joined LGIM Real Assets as a senior asset manager in 2015.
CBRE – Bill Grice has joined CBRE Hotels as executive VP and co-head of hospitality capital markets. Based at the firm’s Atlanta office, Grice will focus on the origination and placement of debt and equity for hospitality-related transactions. Grice will take on a leadership role in partnership with Mark Owens, executive VP and co-head of hospitality capital markets, to lead the development of the debt and structured finance team for CBRE Hotels. He joins CBRE from JLL, where he spent the past 13 years, most recently as MD and co-head of Hotel Investment Banking. Prior to this, he was a director with GE Capital Real Estate.
Niam – The real estate private equity firm has appointed Mathias Pedersen as the CFO/COO fund financial and regulatory management. Pedersen is currently the CEO at Qliro Group and will assume his role at the latest on 20 November. Daniel Andersson will join Niam as head of acquisitions in Sweden on 1 October. Andersson was previously partner and head of real estate corporate finance at Arctic Securities. In Denmark, Niam has hired Jens Kovlunde as head of asset management. Kovlunde previously worked as an advisor and entrepreneur and over the past six years, he has been a consultant for Niam. He will start his position on 1 September. Linus Nilsson has been appointed director in the acquisitions team where he will mainly focus on investments in Sweden. Nilsson most recently came from a role as investment manager/director at Nuveen.
Castleforge Partners – The property investment firm has moved into the hospitality sector with the appointment of Matt Lederer hotels acquisitions director. Lederer will form a key part of Castleforge’s decision making team on hotel acquisition across the UK and Europe. Lederer joins from Marriott International, where he was UK development director. He has 14 years of industry experience, including stints at commercial real estate firm JLL.
ATP – Christiane Eckert, chief global real estate portfolio manager at ATP, has left the Danish pension fund, citing plans to scale back its activity in international property markets. Eckert, who confirmed to IPE Real Assets she had left ATP, posted on LinkedIn that she was “off to new adventures as ATP has decided to significantly reduce their exposure to foreign real estate investments”.
Dexus – Jason Howes has been appointed fund manager of the newly Dexus Real Estate Partnership 1 fund. The opportunity fund is first of a series of closed-ended opportunity funds that will invest in value-add, development and special situation real estate opportunities in Australia.
