Chancerygate – Matthew Stowe joined the UK urban logistics developer and asset manager as construction director. Luke Hughes and Ian Quinn have been appointed asset manager and project manager respectively. Aggy Bak has joined the firm’s finance team as group financial controller and Jamie O’Connor as group accountant. Stowe spent three years at construction company Glencar, where he was most recently a senior project manager. Hughes joins from his role as associate director at LaSalle Investment Management. Quinn joins as a project manager in the company’s North West office and will be responsible for managing the successful delivery of development projects across the region. He was previously an associate director in the project and building consultancy team at Colliers. Bak joins from industrial property business PLP where she was head of group finance. O’Connor previously worked at accountancy and audit firm Goodman Jones where he was an audit manager.
Altus Power – Robert Bernard, CBRE’s chief sustainability officer, has been appointed to join Altus Power’s board of directors. Bernard assumes the board seat made available by the recent retirement of Bill Concannon, who led CBRE’s partnership with Altus Power since 2021. Prior to joining CBRE, Bernard founded and served as managing director of Commonwealth Equity Partners. He was also Microsoft’s first chief environmental strategist. Bernard has also advised companies including National Geographic, Allbirds and Watsco.
Real IS – Christine Bernhofer has been appointed CEO, chairperson of the management board with effect from 1 October 2024. Bernhofer succeeds long-standing CEO Jochen Schenk, who is not extending his contract and retiring. Bernhofer will continue to be a management board member of Real IS Group alongside deputy CEO Bernd Lönner. A selection procedure for a third member of the management board is already underway, with the focus on investment and asset management. Schenk will maintain non-operational roles in the real estate sector after his retirement from the company. Prior to joining Real IS, Bernhofer held several senior positions in the real estate industry. From 2016 to 2023 she was CEO of Swiss Life KVG, and from 2019 also COO of Swiss Life Asset Managers in Germany. Her previous positions also include managing director CFO/COO at UBS Real Estate Kapitalanlagegesellschaft and head of fund operations real estate Europe at UBS Global Real Estate. Until 2005, Bernhofer held the role of managing director (CFO/COO) at TMW Pramerica Property Investment.
Ventas – Theodore Bigman and Joe V Rodriguez Jr have been appointed to the board. Bigman served as a private investor and as founder and CIO of Bigman Holdings, his family office, since March 2021. Prior to that, Bigman held a number of positions at MSIM, an asset management firm and subsidiary of Morgan Stanley, from 1995 to 2021, most recently as head of global listed real assets investing. In connection with his position at MSIM, Bigman served as a member of the board of trust managers for each of American Industrial Properties REIT and Grove Property Trust. Rodriguez was a founding partner and CIO at Invesco Real Estate. He has served as a board advisor to Invesco Office J-REIT and AIM Select Real Estate Income Fund.
Basis Industrial – Morgan Clark has joined the team as director of investor relations. In his position, Clark oversees and manages all operational and capital management activities associated with Basis Industrial’s investment funds and LP equity relationships, fundraising, investor communications, relationship development, fund reporting, fund management and more. Prior to joining Basis, Clark led investor relations and fund management for Foundry Commercial’s development and investment platform. Before his tenure at Foundry, Clark served as SVP at a small middle-market investment bank, WaveCapital Partners.
The Brew – The flexible workspace provider has appointed Jamie Hopkins, former CEO of Workspace Group, to its board. Hopkins is also non-executive chair of Restore and a non-executive director of property consultancy Allsop.
Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton – Rockard Delgadillo has joined the firm as a partner in the real estate, energy, land use and environmental practice group in Los Angeles. Delgadillo joins from DLA Piper. Delgadillo has more than 30 years of experience in real estate transactions, economic development and government. He served as the city attorney for the City of Los Angeles from 2001 to 2009. Prior to his tenure as Los Angeles City attorney, Delgadillo was the deputy mayor of Los Angeles for economic development.
Godwin Developments – The UK property firm has promoted development directors Marcus Phayer, Simon Handslip and Simon Boreham to divisional managing directors with a remit to expand the company’s portfolio and nationwide market share in the industrial & logistics, commercial and residential sectors respectively. Phayer will continue to target a mix of large-scale strategic land promotions, sites with outline planning for speculative development, and the repositioning of well-located last-mile sites that have the potential for refurbishment or redevelopment. Boreham will oversee the firm’s nationwide portfolio which exceeds 4,200 residential units.
Verdion – Former Verdion CIO and Mileway Germany country manager, Georg Starck, has rejoined the pan-European logistics real estate company as executive consultant for acquisitions in Germany. He will focus on serving Verdion’s value-add and development investment strategies, particularly in stronger urban and edge of urban locations, advising and working closely with its in-house team of investment and technical specialists. Starck originally joined Verdion in 2018 from Alpha Industrial, where he led a team of 20 employees as commercial director. Previously, he worked for Aareal Asset Management and ING Real Estate, among others. He was country manager Germany for Mileway from 2020 to 2023. He will continue to co-run the Starck Foundation.
Fladgate – Simon Chadowitz has joined the law firm’s real estate team as partner. Chadowitz who joins from Mishcon de Reya, will help Fladgate to expand its existing expertise in advising clients on all aspects of their real estate developments and investments.
Hilltop Credit Partners – Lawson Conroy has been appointed to head up the the firm’s asset management team, overseeing client-focused deal execution, due diligence and onboarding processes. Lawson, who joins from Lloyds Bank, where he was a consultant, brings 20 years of experience in originating, managing and re-structuring real estate loan books, including senior and mezzanine finance, securitizations and club transactions. Charles Fletcher joins as VP of origination. With over 20 years of experience in origination, structuring and funding across the capital stack, Fletcher was previously head of transactions at Sqft Capital, and formerly head of development finance at Cogress. Aden Samuels joins as associate, execution and monitoring, providing structuring, execution and monitoring support across the life cycle of Hilltop’s portfolio of development loans. Aden previously worked at Hampshire Trust Bank, Mizrahi Tefahot Bank and Zorin Finance.
