DWS – Jay DeWaltoff has joined as head of US real estate debt to accelerate the growth of the investment manager’s existing US real estate credit business and expand its global private credit platform. He will be based in the firm’s New York City office and report directly to Todd Henderson, co-global head of real estate and head of real estate for the Americas. DeWaltoff was previously head of the commercial mortgage loan group at the alternatives platform of JP Morgan Asset Management, where he was responsible for capital raising, constructing tailored portfolios and approving new investments. Daniel Sang, Catherine Millane and Khrystyna Bazylyak will also join DWS from JP Morgan Asset Management.
Heitman – John Mancuso has been appointed managing director and head of global sales in the firm’s client service and marketing group. Mancuso has been serving in this role as interim head since June 2023 and will continue his responsibilities leading Heitman’s global sales initiatives. Before being named interim head of sales, Mancuso led Heitman’s sales and relationship management responsibilities for investors situated in the western region of the US. Before joining Heitman in 2015, Mancuso served as head of private markets research at Russell Investments. He also held roles at Meketa Investment and Lucent Technologies.
Starwood Capital – Andrew J Sossen will rejoin the firm in September as a senior MD and COO. In this role, Sossen will be a member of Starwood Capital’s executive committee and oversee the day-to-day operations of the firm, reporting to Barry Sternlicht, Starwood Capital’s chairman and CEO. Since his departure in 2023, Sossen worked for a vertically integrated private equity firm focused on US-based commercial real estate private credit strategies. Before that, Sossen spent close to 14 years at Starwood Capital, including serving as Starwood Property Trust’s COO since July 2011 and its general counsel, chief compliance officer and EVP since January 2010. Prior to joining Starwood Capital, Sossen served as the general counsel of KKR’s asset management business and KKR Financial Holdings. He previously served as a trustee of Starwood Waypoint Residential Trust. Sossen’s career began at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, where he was a member of the firm’s corporate department.
Federated Hermes – Harry Wong has been appointed as director in the €2.7bn infrastructure team. He joins Federated Hermes from RBC Capital Markets, where he advised on a range of private and public sector clients involved in building, owning and operating essential transport infrastructure. Prior to this, Wong was a director at UBS, and he started his career at KPMG as a consultant specialising in corporate finance infrastructure.
CBRE — Henry Chin has been appointed as COO of global research. Chin will oversee the operation of CBRE’s research platform globally. He will retain his duties as global head of investor research and oversee field research and Econometric Advisors. Chin joined CBRE in 2014 after serving in leadership roles for research, analysis and strategy in Asia Pacific and Europe for Prudential Financial and Deutsche Bank. For the past decade, he has held various leadership roles in CBRE, including as head of research in EMEA from 2019-2020. Ada Choi has been appointed as head of research, Asia Pacific and will report to Chin. Choi joined CBRE in 2005 and has served in various research leadership roles in Asia Pacific, including head of capital markets research for Asia Pacific and head of research for Greater China, with her most recent role as the head of occupier research and head of data intelligence and management. Rob Madden has been appointed head of UK leasing. In this new role, Madden will be responsible for establishing and driving CBRE’s growth strategies to enable continued expansion of its leasing business in the UK, covering offices, industrial and retail. With over 26 years of experience in real estate, 17 years of which have been at CBRE, Madden has worked in a variety of leadership roles, most recently as head of London advisory and transaction services, which will now be taken on by Andy Monighan.
Madison International Realty – Akaash Shah has been appointed VP of investments. Shah will focus on advancing the firm’s real estate growth platform investing activities. Shah brings over a decade of real estate experience, most recently as a principal at Accord Group, where he was responsible for sourcing, underwriting, and executing strategic growth capital investments in early to-mid stage real estate platforms across the UK and Europe. Previously, Shah worked at HSBC in the infrastructure and real estate investment banking group. Prior to that, he began his career in the investment banking group at The Royal Bank of Scotland.
Hobbs Brook Real Estate – Mark McLean joins as a senior asset manager and Cormac Sullivan joins as asset manager. Clayton Wentworth has also joined the firm’s operations management team as operations manager. McLean’s responsibilities will involve developing and executing acquisition and asset management strategies for the firm’s current and future portfolio. McLean previously served as head of asset management at Rhino Capital and has held positions at RJ Kelly, Jones Lang LaSalle, and Condyne. Sullivan joins the firm from The Seyon Group, where he served as senior associate, acquisitions for the Boston-based fund operator. He has held previous roles with Cushman & Wakefield, Eastern Bank, and NAI Hunneman. Wentworth most recently served as a vice-president and general manager at Alexandria Real Estate. Wentworth has also held positions with CBRE, Divco West, and Normandy. He is a graduate of Keene State College and is the current president of Building Owners and Managers Association Boston. Wentworth will report to Steve Brodsky, director of operations and property management.
Venterra Realty – Steve Fritzer has been appointed director of development. In this role, Fritzer will spearhead Venterra’s development of purpose-built rental home communities throughout Texas. He will be responsible for sourcing sites, design, construction oversight, and supporting Venterra’s internal teams to successfully lease up communities. With a 30-year career, Fritzer brings a wealth of experience in development and construction management roles to Venterra.
BTIG – James Bentley has joined the firm as MD in its energy, infrastructure and transportation group in investment banking. Bentley will focus on the firm’s capabilities in the power and utilities sector. He will be based in the firm’s New York office and will collaborate with BTIG’s M&A and capital markets teams to guide clients through the shifting dynamics of the industry. Bentley brings more than 15 years of experience to the firm. Most recently, he was a principal and MD at Greenhill & Co where he covered the power sector and provided M&A and capital markets advisory services. Bentley began his career at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
FarmTogether – David Gould has been appointed CEO. Formerly serving as FarmTogether’s MD of capital formation, Gould has been integral in shaping our strategic direction and is well-prepared to lead the firm. His background includes nearly a decade as a portfolio manager for Cargill and Elliott Associates, seven years leading his own consultancy, and six years developing the Latam debt capital markets for Jefferies and Banco Pine. Prior to FarmTogether, Gould led capital markets, investor relations, and ESG at AMERRA Capital Management.
Symple – Katie O’Brien has been appointed marketing manager. O’Brien will be responsible for delivering strategic initiatives that enhance brand awareness and drive market presence for the tech firm, as well as overseeing all brand communications. She will also play an instrumental role in launching the property compliance platform’s new products and services. O’Brien has more than a decade of marketing experience, including nine years in the property industry.
Qualitas – Berrick Wilson has joined as co-head of real estate equity, Australia. He will serve as co-head alongside Henry Vuu and will also lead the tactical opportunities equity investment strategy. Previously, a partner in KordaMentha’s real estate business, which he co-founded, Wilson brings more than 30 years of experience to Qualitas. He has a broad range of experience in property, with a strong background in development management, asset management and investment advisory.
