Cromwell Property Group – Pontus Flemme Gärdsell has been promoted to head of Nordics, having been interim head since the beginning of 2020. Gärdsell joined Cromwell in 2011 as group accountant for Sweden and became head of finance for Sweden just over two years later. He was then appointed head of finance for the entire Nordics region in early-2017. Prior to joining Cromwell, he worked at Deloitte for five years.
Federated Hermes – The specialist investment manager has appointed James Wardlaw as a partner in its infrastructure business. He will be based in London and will have primary responsibility for client relationships. Wardlaw will join the Federated Hermes infrastructure investment committee. He joins from Campbell Lutyens, a firm he joined in 2011, where he was head of infrastructure globally for eight years and then, latterly, vice chairman.
CBRE – The global real estate advisor has appointed James O’Neill to lead the UK equity placement team within its capital advisors business. O’Neill joined the team in March 2019 from Legal and General Investment Management Real Assets.
Hammerson – Grégoire Peureux has been appointed to the newly created role of chief operating officer. Peureux will join the group executive committee and will focus on the delivery of strategic initiatives at a group level. Peureux joins Hammerson from Rove Capital Partners, a boutique real estate investment advisor, where he was a founding partner. He had previously worked at Ivanhoe Cambridge for over 13 years, initially as CFO for Europe, and subsequently acting head of Europe. He spent his early career at KPMG.
VIA Outlets – The European fashion outlet operator has appointed Geert Paemen as group sustainability director as part of its growing ESG strategy. The newly-created senior management position is designed to oversee and develop the business’ sustainability strategy across its business operations and eleven outlet centres in Europe. Paemen joins VIA Outlets after six years at Telefonica where she held the position of global director for sustainability. Prior to this, she worked as head of strategy at the Telefonica Foundation and a lawyer at various international law firms.
BNP Paribas Asset Management – Stéphanie Passet has been appointed CIO for infrastructure debt. Prior to joining BNPP AM, Passet spent 19 years at Crédit Agricole CIB, joining in New York and spending six years in project finance before moving to securitisation. She returned to Paris in 2010, within the securitisation team there, before becoming an executive director within infrastructure capital markets. She previously worked within export and project finance at ABN Amro and French export credit agency Coface. Romain Linot has been appointed CIO for real estate debt. Linot has more than 16 years’ experience of real estate finance. Linot was head of real estate finance for continental Europe at Aviva Investors, establishing the company’s European real estate debt platform, before which he was a senior fund manager within commercial real estate finance at AXA IM. He previously worked in property finance for RBS in Paris and Madrid. Mohamed El Jani has joined the structured finance team as an investment manager. El Jani joins from BNP Paribas CIB, where he was a quantitative analyst in the credit portfolio management solutions team within the securitised products group. Prior to this, he was a quantitative analyst within Société Générale’s model risk management department. Irene Bárcena has joined the SME lending team as an analyst. Bárcena joined from BNP Paribas CIB where she was an associate in corporate coverage EMEA for strategic clients within the telecommunications, beverages, chemicals and petroleum services sectors.
AustralianSuper – Paul Clark has been appointed senior property investment director in London. Clark will be responsible for Australian Super’s real estate investment activities in the UK and Europe. Clark was formally CIO at The Crown Estate. Philippe Lenoble has also joined the London team as senior infrastructure investment director. Lenoble will be responsible for AustralianSuper’s infrastructure investment activities in the UK and Europe. He was formerly MD of Goldman Sachs’ infrastructure investment group and senior MD with the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec’s infrastructure group. Mikaël Limpalaër has joined the London investment team as an investment director focused on real estate and infrastructure debt. Limpalaër has extensive real estate debt investment experience and joins AustralianSuper from Aeriance where he held the role of director, real estate lending. Prior to this, he held senior positions at Morgan Stanley, Barclays Capital and Société Générale.
Niam – The real estate private equity firm has appointed Jennifer Andersson and Rikard Henriksson as managing partners. Andersson and Henriksson have been acting as managing partners since August 2020 and been with the firm since 2007 and 2010, respectively. Andersson was previously head of investor relations and business development and Henriksson as head of asset management.
Blue Alpine Partners – Richard Morgan has joined the property consultancy firm as an associate partner chartered surveyor. After qualifying as a chartered surveyor in 1983, Morgan was appointed manager of Northwood Office. He then spent a few years overseas running his own estate agency businesses, most recently a RE/MAX franchise in Auckland, New Zealand. He joined a firm of Chartered Surveyors back in Northwood in 2013.
