Hines – Ronen Journo has been appointed European head of operations and senior managing director. While his remit will focus on the workplace interaction for tenants across Hines’ European office portfolio, he will also be responsible for wider property management operations. Journo joins Hines from WeWork, where he was senior vice president for enterprise and workplace, heading the firm’s property management operations and relationships with key corporate tenants across Europe. Prior to WeWork, he was MD for Workplace Resources and EMEA operations at Cisco, where he spent over twenty years and was responsible for corporate real estate in the EMEA region. In addition to his role at Hines, Journo will continue to sit on the board of several Proptech businesses, including SpaceOS, Basking Automation and Juce, as well as UK affordable housing provider Network Homes.
Hammerson – Connor Owens has joined the retail-focused REIT as its new director of Ireland. Owens will head up Hammerson’s Irish business and lead the operation across its portfolio, which includes Dundrum Town Centre, the ILAC Centre, and Swords Pavilions. He is expected to formally join Hammerson in February 2021. Owens joins Hammerson from Ireland’s NAMA, where he was the head of asset management and recovery.
Cohen & Steers – Senior VP and senior portfolio manager Jason Yablon is to succeed retiring executive VP and US real estate head Thomas Bohjalian. Bohjalian will retire on 30 June 2021 after nearly two decades with the firm. Yablon has served as the lead portfolio manager over the past three years and will report to Jon Cheigh, CIO and head of global real estate, as part of this transition.
Watkin Jones – The UK housebuilder has appointed Jeremy Fletcher CEO of its property management business Fresh Property Group. Fletcher replaces Rebecca Hopewell who has decided to retire. He joins Watkin Jones from Quintain Living. Fletcher will take up his new role at the beginning of January 2021. Rebecca has agreed to stay with the company until an orderly transition is complete.
Dunmoore – The UK real estate investment and development firm has appointed Benjamin Powell as an investment surveyor. Powell joined Savills’ graduate scheme and qualified as a chartered surveyor in 2016. He left Savills to join the Berners-Allsopp Estate, where he was responsible for asset management and development monitoring in central London.
Urban Catalyst – Paul Shadarevian has been appointed a non-executive board member to new sister company Urban Catalyst Developments. He was previously a partner at global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright before practising as a barrister and Queen’s Counsel. Urban Catalyst Developments has been created by Urban Catalyst to progress projects in the UK outside of Purfleet-on-Thames, as well as opportunities in Europe. Shadarevian will help the new company deliver developments in conjunction with public sector partners.
Amundi Real Estate – Marc Bertrand has replaced Jean-Marc Coly as CEO. Bertrand joins from La Française GREIM France where he was chairman since 2014. Prior to that, he was managing director of La Française REM France since 2007. Having joined La Française group in 1999 as head of management control for France, he went on to become CFO in 2000 then director of administration and finance in 2005. Bertrand began his career in 1994 at GAN Assurances as a management controller. Last month, it was announced that Philippe Depoux would take over from Bertrand at La Française.
