EUROPE - Property investment manager Cordea Savills has appointed Kiran Patel to the newly created role of chief investment officer, with a global remit.

Patel, who will be a member of the executive committee at Cordea Savills, was previously global head of business development, distribution, research and strategy at AXA Real Estate.

After 11 years at the firm, he took a break of several months before taking up his role at Cordea Savills this month.

Justin O'Connor, chief executive at Cordea Savills, said: "Kiran's wealth of experience will be invaluable to us as we move forward with our plans for growth."

Patel said he had been impressed by the structure and growth of the investment management firm in recent years, and by its plans for future expansion.

"As CIO, I can add to the depth of existing investment experience at the company, and I look forward to playing a key role across the business in fulfilling the next stage of its growth," he said.

Before working at AXA Real Estate, Patel was an associate director at Legal & General Investment Management, and before that, began his property career at Hillier Parker.
