Scottish Widows Investment Partnership and its development partner Endurance Land have received planning permission for their London midtown development at 35 Chancery Lane.
The comprehensive refurbishment will expand the usable space from 93,000 sq ft (8,640 m2) to 100,000 sq ft, including ground floor retail and two new roof terraces.
'London’s Midtown is going through much change presently. The refurbishment, recladding and extension of 35 Chancery Lane will be an important part of the transformation of the area,' commented architect Andrew Tate, director of TateHindle.
The news comes hard on the heels of SWIP's announcement last week that it has committed £92 mln (€111 mln) to fund the second and final development phase of 12 Hammersmith Grove, an office-led regeneration scheme in the west London district of Hammersmith.
In total, 12 Hammersmith Grove will provide 167,000 sq ft (15,500 m2) of grade A office space over 11 floors along with new restaurant facilities and additional public space.
The development will be built speculatively with construction starting this May and completion due in the first quarter of 2016.
