New York State Teachers Retirement System (NYSTRS) has approved $575m (€563m) worth of investments into real estate debt and equity.

NYSTRS said it has placed $175m into its commercial mortgage-backed securitisation (CMBS) strategy via separate account relationships with BlackRock, Prima Capital Advisors and Raith Capital Partners.

The pension fund’s real estate debt portfolio was valued at $7.8bn at the end of the first half of 2022.

For the equity investments, NYSTRS said it placed $100m into Artemis Real Estate Partners IV, a US value-add fund targeting middle-market equity and debt investments, and made a $300m commitment to Blackstone Real Estate Fund X, a fund which has so far raised $24bn of its $30.3bn fundraising target.
