Maryland State Retirement and Pension System (SRPS) has added Carmel Partners and Asana Partners to its US real estate fund manager line-up.

The pension fund said in a meeting document that it has issued a $100m (€87.9m) commitment each to the Carmel Partners Investment Fund VIII apartment fund and the Asana Partners Fund III retail property fund.

Maryland SRPS joins the Texas County & District Retirement System, which made a $125m commitment to the Carmel Partners fund.

It is currently unknown how much capital Carmel Partners seeks for the latest fund. The previous fund which closed in 2018 raised $1.28bn.

Carmel Partners declined a request for comment.

As previously reported, Asana Partners seeks to raise $1bn and a $1.75bn hard cap for its fund.

Maryland SRPS said it has also approved $25m into the HVP V SR Co-Investment managed by Heitman to target US residential assets.
