IPE Real Assets has won real assets publication of the year at the Aviva Investors Sustainability Media Awards 2024.
The award recognises dedicated real assets publications within the UK media that have been “at the forefront of the sustainability agenda over the last year”.
The sustainability media awards, run by the global asset management business of insurance group Aviva, attracted more than 117 submissions from publications and journalists.
Steve Waygood, chief responsible investment officer at Aviva Investors, led the judging panel and was supported by James Alexander, chief executive of the UK Sustainable Investment and Finance Association, Rhian-Mari Thomas, chief executive of the Green Finance Institute, and Rose Easton, chief responsible investment ecosystems officer for the UK, Europe and IMEA at the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI).
Richard Lowe, editor of IPE Real Assets, said: “This award recognises the hard work of the editorial team at IPE Real Assets and reflects the focus the publication has placed on sustainability issues across the complex and evolving world of real assets, from real estate and infrastructure to forestry, agriculture and natural capital.”
The awards ceremony was hosted by Mark Versey, chief executive of Aviva Investors, and held at the company’s Sustainable Finance Factory in London.
“The awards are now in their fourth year, and we continue to be overwhelmed by the level of participation and number of quality submissions from the media,” Versey said.
“The calibre of writing we’ve seen this year underlines that the reporting of sustainability topics has continued to evolve and mature. Our winners and highly commended reporters have shown remarkable skill in untangling complex environmental and social challenges. They have made these topics accessible and compelling reads for their audiences, spotlighting both the risks our world faces and the innovative solutions being developed to address them.
“As we navigate the critical transition to a sustainable future, quality journalism plays an ever-essential role in holding both individuals and organisations accountable and inspiring positive change. This year’s winners exemplify the power of storytelling in accelerating progress towards a more resilient and equitable world.”
