Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS) of the State of Illinois has approved a $150m (€142m) commitment to the Macquarie Infrastructure Partners VI fund
Macquarie Asset Management already manages a real assets portfolio for the investor valued at $416.6m, according to the pension fund.
TRS Illinois joins the New Mexico State Investment Council in the fund, for which Macquarie is seeking to raise between $7bn and $8bn.
The fund aims to invest in 10 to 15 companies, mainly in the US and Canada, but also other markets in the Americas.
It will target transportation, waste management, utilities/energy, digital and social sectors.
