GLOBAL - Prupim, the real estate division of the UK life assurer Prudential plc, has appointed John Wythe as head of fund management.

Wythe, previously head of life and international funds at Prupim, was appointed the role following John Cartwright's decision to retire at the end of this month from his position as head of retail and institutional funds at Prupim.

He has over 30 years' experience in property fund management and has overseen the management of portfolios of the Prudential Life Funds and helped expand Prupim's international presence, and is also a Prupim board member.

Trevor Hanmkin, currently the fund manager for the retail portfolio of the Prudential Life Fund, has taken over Wythe's responsibilities for the Prudential life fund.

Cartwright is to retire on 31 March 2009 after working with Prupim for 34 years.

At the end of December 2008, Prupim had approximately £15bn (€16.3bn) invested in properties across Europe, North America and the Asia Pacific region.
