Rockspring Property Investment Managers — Suengtak Lee has been appointed to head activities in North East Asia. Lee joins from South Korea’s sovereign wealth fund Korea Investment Corporation (KIC), where he was a deputy director in the real estate and infrastructure team. In that role, he led various direct and indirect real estate investment mandates internationally. Lee will be based in Rockspring’s Seoul office and will take responsibility for leading equity raising in South Korea, Japan and China as well as overseeing existing relationships in the region.
BNP Paribas Real Estate — Andy Martin has been appointed chief executive of BNP Paribas Real Estate’s new UK board, following its acquisition of Strutt & Parker. Former chief executive John Slade left last month. Martin was previously Strutt & Parker’s senior partner. Other members of the new board have been appointed from both BNP Paribas and Strutt & Parker. They are deputy chief executive Etienne Prongué, managiing director Pascal Maury, head of commercial transactions Damian Cronk; head of residential development and planning Simon Kibblewhite, head of property management and professional services Paul Abrey, head of valuation Stephen Wolfe; head of rural James Farrell, head of residential agency Guy Robinson; chief operating officer and co-chairman of the regional executive Mark England, and co-chairman of the regional executive Will Gemmill.
BMO Real Estate Partners — Kenneth Yuen has been appointed as an analyst in the investment management team. Dan Walsgrove will take on the role of retail asset manager. Yuen joins from Sisu Advisors. Walsgrove was previously an associate at LaSalle Investment Management.
Round Hill Capital — Alex James is joining as a managing director and head of capital markets, based in London. He joins from Hines, where he was a managing director in the capital markets group.
Asia Pacific Real Estate Association — John Lim, co-founder and CEO of ARA Asset Management, has been elected chairman of APREA. He replaces outgoing chairman Lim Swe Guan.
Propertylink — Jamie Smith has been appointed office portfolio manager. He joins from KPMG, where he was director of real estate advisory.
DIC Asset — Sonja Wärntges has been named chief executive, succeeding Aydin Karaduman. Wärntges has been CFO of DIC Asset since June 2013, and will continue to oversee finance and controlling, alongside her new chief executive role. Dirk Hasselbring has also been appointed to the management board as a new member, and will assume responsibility for the newly-formed funds business function. He is currently managing director of DIC Asset’s operative investment fund management arm DIC Fund Balance. Meanwhile, DIC Asset’s CIO and management board member Johannes von Mutius is having his term of office extended, and will now continue in the role until the end of 2020.
Barings Real Estate Advisers — Nikolas von Kleist is being hired as transactions manager in the Frankfurt office. Ibrahim Awan has been appointed as a senior analyst in the Munich office. Von Kleist worked most recently at Curzon Advisers. Awan has recently completed an MSc in Real Estate Finance at the University of Amsterdam, and, before that, worked as an asset manager for JLL in Germany.
Ancala Partners — Charles Herriott is joining infrastructure investment manager Ancala Partners as asset manager and Christopher Lee-Evans is coming to the firm as an analyst. Herriott was previously an asset manager at DIF. Lee-Evans worked for Equinox Energy Capital.
