Teacher Retirement System of Texas (Texas Teachers) is backing Energy Capital Partners Management’s latest energy infrastructure fund with a $125m (€118.3m) commitment.

The pension fund, investing through the opportunistic sector of its energy/infrastructure portfolio, said it has placed the capital into Energy Capital Partners Fund V, a fund seeking to raise $4bn.

Fund V, which is mainly expected to invest in North America, invests in a mixture of power generation, renewables, energy storage, environmental, and sustainability efficiency assets. The fund could evaluate some investments in Europe.

Texas Teachers said it also issued $100m each into Ridgewood Energy Corporation’s Ridgewood Energy Oil and Gas Fund V fund the Formentera Partners TRS CIV fund, managed by Formentera Partners.

The pension fund also approved $35.7m into the Riverstone Nolan Continuation Fund, which is managed by Riverstone Investment Group.

Riverstone Investment Group is known as an investor in energy, power and infrastructure.
