Teacher Retirement System of Texas (Texas Teachers) has added Quantum Energy Partners to its real assets manager line-up for the first time with three commitments totaling $275m (€260m), as stated by the pension fund in a summary of its new commitments for the month of February.

The pension fund is committing $150m to the Quantum Energy Partners VIII fund has approved two commitments for co-investments alongside the fund worth $100m and $25m, respectively.

Quantum Energy Partners VIII focuses on North America energy infrastructure, including upstream oil and gas, and energy-transition and decarbonisation assets.

The fund has a $3.3bn capital-raising target capped at $4.65bn, according to the fund’s existing investors.

Additionally, Texas Teachers has committed $150m to NGP Natural Resources XIII. The fund series is known for investing in oil and gas production, oilfield services and midstream energy.

Texas Teachers expects to classify both funds as opportunistic investments.
