Australian property group Stockland and John Boyd Properties have formed an equal partnership to redevelop a southern Sydney golf course into a A$3.5bn (€2bn) logistics hub.
The pair intend to develop a multi-storey logistics hub at the 18.3ha Kogarah Golf Club following the NSW government’s recent rezoning of the site.
Works on the logistics precinct are expected to start in 2027, subject to all relevant planning and internal approvals, and will be delivered over multiple stages.
Tarun Gupta, Stockland MD and CEO, said: “Our partnership with John Boyd Properties is focused on creating a state-of-the-art logistics hub that drives investment, jobs, and productivity outcomes to position Sydney as a global trade gateway location.
“The project will demonstrate how multi-storey logistics facilities can generate significant economic outcomes by better servicing freight infrastructure, major road networks and transport links, in turn attracting domestic and global freight and supply chain operators to the precinct.”
John Boyd Properties’ director, John Boyd, said: “This is a project that will carry a strong legacy and capitalise on Sydney’s growing trade volumes, increased e-commerce activity and demand for sustainable, high-performance logistics assets. The proposal is well positioned to attract premium domestic and global tenants, solidifying the precinct’s ambition to set a new benchmark for design and delivery.”
Councillor Edward McDougall, Bayside Council mayor, said: “This proposal represents a fresh chapter for Bayside – one that brings significant job creation and economic opportunity to our city while unlocking the potential of a long-stalled site.”
