South Carolina Retirement System (SCRS) has approved a $200m (€166.1m) commitment to the Axium Infrastructure II fund.

SCRS told IPE Real Assets that Axium Infrastructure II’s “focus on core infrastructure is in line with that of our real asset program’s orientation”.

Axium Infrastructure did not respond to a request for comment.

The fund’s manager has an investment history of investing in core energy, transportation and social infrastructure assets in the US and Canada.

South Carolina issues commitments for infrastructure through its real asset portfolio. This asset class has a targeted allocation of 12% of its $35.6bn of total plan assets. The real asset portfolio was valued at $4bn at the end of 2020.
