Sonnedix Japan has invested an undisclosed amount to buy a 55.6MW solar photovoltaics plant.

The ground-mounted plant, located in the Hitachi City, Ibaraki prefecture, started operations in August 2017 and is currently under a feed-in-tariff until August 2037, Sonnedix Japan said.

Axel Thiemann, CEO of Sonnedix, said: “It has been an incredibly successful year for the Sonnedix Japan team, who’s been capable of adding close to 200MW to our operational capacity

“Within the context of 2020, this makes us very confident about our ability to continue rapidly expanding our presence in the Japanese market.”

Sonnedix Japan currently manages on behalf of Sonnedix 251.6MW of solar capacity in operation, with a further 338MW in construction and under development.
