Sonnedix Group’s solar operating capacity in Japan has surpassed 100MW with the acquisition of two additional plants.

The manager’s investment arm in Japan has bought the two solar photovoltaics (PV) plants totalling 5.5MW in the Shimane prefecture, west of Japan for an undisclosed sum.

Sonnedix Japan said both plants began commercial operation in 2018.

Axel Thiemann, CEO of Sonnedix said: “The acquisition of these operational solar PV plants in Japan is further testament to Sonnedix’s commitment to the Japanese market, and to optimise each investment for the long-term, as we continue to actively seek opportunities to expand our global footprint.”

This acquisition brings the total operating capacity in the country managed by Sonnedix Japan to over 100MW. In addition, Sonnedix Japan manages 237.8MW of solar PV capacity in construction and a total controlled capacity in excess of 500MW.
