Salter Brothers has expanded its luxury retreat portfolio with the acquisition of Kingsford The Barossa, in South Australia.

The Kingsford The Barossa retreat was acquired from owners Stefan and Leanne Ahrens for an undisclosed sum.

Salter Brothers said the asset, acquired for its retreat fund, is the manager’s first retreat asset in South Australia.

Kingsford The Barossa, was built in 1856 on a 225-acre site. The asset consists of 16-suites, Orleana restaurant and conference facilities.

Paul Salter, managing director of Salter Brothers, said “We are delighted to acquire this beautiful property, which will complement our existing portfolio of boutique luxury hotels and retreats.”

“We look forward to the opportunity to put Salter Brothers touches on a premium asset, with plans to expand the property, allowing more guests to experience this amazing piece of South Australian heritage, in the surrounds of the Barossa.”

Stefan and Leanne Ahrens said: “We are proud of what we have built at Kingsford The Barossa and look forward to seeing the property become a significant Australian tourism destination under Salter Brothers Hospitality management and their luxury lifestyle brands Spicers Retreats and Ardour Hotels & Estates. We are excited for the property to really go to the next level under Salter’s ownership.”
