Dutch pension scheme ABP is committing up to €500m to European infrastructure through a new partnership between its asset manager, APG Asset Management, and Equitix.
APG is committing €400m via a strategic managed account targeting assets such as rolling stock, offshore electricity transmission and water infrastructure, with a potential further €100m allocation earmarked for the Equitix Infrastructure Growth Fund.
Arjan Reinders, head of infrastructure Europe at APG, said: “Through this partnership with Equitix, we are creating a tailored platform to invest in essential infrastructure across the UK and Europe on behalf of ABP.
“The strategic managed account, together with the contemplated investment in the Equitix Infrastructure Growth Fund broadens our access to attractive opportunities across water infrastructure, offshore transmission, rolling stock and other essential infrastructure, while supporting our long-term investment and sustainability objectives.”
The commitment represents APG’s first investment partnership with Equitix.
Hugh Crossley, CEO of Equitix, said: “APG’s commitment is a powerful endorsement of Equitix, our team and our long-term European strategy. Over many years, we have built a strong platform across Europe, combining local presence and expertise with a disciplined approach to infrastructure investment.
“As we continue to expand our footprint, this partnership strengthens our ability to identify and invest in opportunities that support economic growth, the energy transition and communities across the region. We look forward to building on our relationship with APG and investing together for the long term.”
