HinesLaura Hines-Pierce has been promoted to co-CEO. She joins father Jeff Hines as co-leader of the firm. Hines-Pierce has served as Hines’ senior managing director in the office of the CEO since 2020, and previously served as the firm’s transformation officer. Most recently, Hines-Pierce joined the office of the CEO in 2020 and helped build the investment management platform that launched three flagship funds across the US and Asia. Prior to that, she was the firm’s transformation officer. She also served as project manager for River Point. Prior to joining Hines, she worked for Sotheby’s in New York.

CBRE – The global real estate advisor has appointed Richard Bashford as a senior director in its UK retail investment team. Bashford joins from Fawcett Mead, where he has spent the last seven years as a director, focusing on the national retail investment market. Prior to this, he was a director in JLL’s national retail investment team. His new role will encompass all aspects of retail investment, with an emphasis on the national high street, out-of-town and retail repurposing. He will work on projects throughout the UK but will be based in CBRE’s Bristol office.

M7 Real Estate –  The pan-European investor and asset manager specialising in multi-tenanted properties has appointed Peter Wenzel as managing director for Germany. Wenzel will be responsible for overseeing the team in Germany and driving M7’s growth in the German market, especially in the industrial and office sectors, on behalf of its pan-European value add funds and separate account mandates. Wenzel joins M7 from RLI Investors where he spent the past six years, initially as a director, responsible for deal sourcing and asset management before being promoted to managing director. Prior to joining RLI, he was a vice president at PGIM where had a focus on light industrial and logistics space. He also spent over five years at GLL Real Estate Partners.

Orchard Street Investment Management – The specialist commercial property investment manager has promoted Harry Buxton to associate. Buxton joined Orchard Street in 2017 as acquisitions manager, following a  seven-year track record at Jones Lang Lasalle, where he began his career and qualified as a chartered surveyor. 

Avignon Capital – The real estate management consultant has appointed Craig Ballantyne as investment director for Germany. Ballantyne’s remit will also cover investment strategy, sourcing and origination, debt financing and funding. Based in Berlin, Ballantyne has over 25 years’ experience in investment and asset management as well as development, within the UK and mainland Europe. Prior to moving to Germany in 2002, he previously had roles at Knight Frank and Donaldson’s in the UK. Since 2006, he has run his own consultancy firm, CMB Consulting, working for multiple international and institutional clients including Barings. Prior to CMB, he was previously retail asset and acquisitions manager at Deka Immobilien before serving as managing director at property and asset manager Estama.

Flatfair – Gary Wright, formerly Flatfair’s chief revenue officer, has been promoted to co-CEO. Wright will lead on day-to-day business operations while founder and co-CEO Franz Doerr will focus on finance and corporate strategy. The move strengthens the depth of knowledge within the leadership team and allows the two co-CEOs to focus on their specialisms.

Silbury Finance –  The Oaktree Capital Management-backed development lender has appointed Jamie Rahder as investment director and Trevor DaCosta as finance director. Rahder, who has nearly a decade of real estate and financial services experience, will be responsible for originating new real estate transactions, deal execution and ongoing management of the loan book. He joins Silbury from Octopus Real Estate, where he spent five years as a senior development originator, working alongside Silbury founding partner Gavin Eustace. Prior to this, he spent two years at Hampshire Trust Bank as a lending analyst in the property finance team. DaCosta will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the finance function, with specific responsibility for reporting performance to the board, financial planning and analysis, and ensuring the business complies with all regulatory and other legal requirements. He was previously finance director of Urban Exposure. Prior to that, he spent nine years at global real estate firm Tishman Speyer Properties based in London, most latterly in the newly created role of head of financial planning and analysis for Europe.

Essensys –  The global provider of software and technology to the flexible workspace industry has appointed James Lowery as CEO of its UK and European business. Lowery will lead the growth of the UK and European business, as the firm continues to scale its operations globally. Lowery joins from British Land where he co-founded its flexible workspace offering, Storey. More broadly, he has experience working across Europe and in the UAE. He joins the group’s executive committee.

Précis Capital Partners – The real estate development lending platform has appointed Andrew Whittaker as legal director. In his new role, Whittaker will support the firm’s active corporate and transactional work at both borrower and investor level. He joins Précis Capital from Addleshaw Goddard, where he worked for over four years and latterly served as legal director of real estate finance. He was previously a senior associate within the real estate finance team at Hogan Lovells International and an associate operating across the banking and finance teams at Taylor Wessing.

John Mattson – The residential property group has appointed Mattias Lundström as the new CFO. He succeeds Maria Sidén who will be stepping down. Lundström is the CFO at ICA Properties, a company he joined in 2017. Before that, he also served as CFO at GE Real Estate and as CEO at GE Capital Lending and Leasing in the Nordic region. Lundström will join John Mattson Group management and will assume his new role no later than 9 August 2022. Lars Ingman will take over as acting CFO at John Mattson for the interim period following Sidén’s departure in February/March until Lundström assumes the position.
