Hines – The international real estate firm has appointed Lorenzo Peñalver as investment director in Spain. Peñalver has 16 years of experience in operations and financial management in the real estate sector. He joins Hines from asset manager Abrdn, where he was senior transaction manager in Spain and Portugal, and asset manager for part of its real estate portfolio spanning logistics, office and hotel assets in Spain, and retail properties in Portugal. Peñalver has also worked for a number of companies in the real estate sector in Spain and across wider Europe, including AXA Real Estate, Banco Santander, KPMG and Dunas Capital. At Hines Spain, Peñalver will be responsible for spearheading the analysis and evaluation of new investment opportunities in the country, covering all asset classes with a focus on Madrid and Barcelona, as well as other Spanish benchmark cities for logistics and residential.
CBRE – Andrew Dietz has joined CBRE Capital Advisors, the firm’s investment banking division, as a senior managing director in New York City. Dietz will be responsible for structuring and raising private equity capital for CBRE’s third-party institutional clients in the Americas. Dietz joins CBRE from Acore Capital, where he served as a managing director on its capital raising team. He has previously held senior roles at Morgan Stanley, where he led institutional marketing globally for the firm’s alternative asset management division and Eastdil Secured’s real estate private equity capital raising practice.
BentallGreenOak – The real estate manager has appointed Daniel Marchand to its global capital raising team. Marchand joins us as managing director, capital raising and IR, reporting jointly to Paul Mouchakkaa and Julie Wong. Prior to joining BentallGreenOak, Marchand was head of sales and marketing at Trez Capital, where he led the firm’s asset growth efforts, which more than doubled during his 5 + year tenure. Preceding Trez, Marchand was SVP, global business development at Nuveen Investments of Chicago. He held a similar role at Lazard Asset Management, opening their Canadian office and leading their expansion efforts, and was also VP of the consulting solutions group at RBC Global Asset Management.
Harworth – The regenerator of land and property has appointed Haroon Akram as director of strategy, investment and business development, and Dan Needham as development director. Most recently, Akram worked within Deloitte’s real estate consulting team, where he specialised in estates strategies across the private and public sector, asset value release and generation, and business case development for strategic land acquisitions. Needham will be responsible for progressing a number of Harworth’s strategic land and major development sites. He was most recently development director at Muse Developments.
CTP – The listed logistics and industrial developer has appointed Harry Bannatyne as group head of client relations based in the company’s headquarters in Prague. Bannatyne was previously a partner and regional director industrial at Colliers in the Czech capital. Prior to that he was national director, head of industrial agency for the Czech Republic and Slovakia for JLL.
FREO – Sebastian Mogos-Lindemann has been appointed managing director to lead the German investment team from its Berlin office. Mogos-Lindemann brings a wealth of experience to Freo following more than a decade of international practice in the real estate and infrastructure sector, most recently as associate director of transactions at Patrizia Deutschland.
The Ardent Companies – The US-based real estate investment and asset management firm has appointed Suzie Cooper as its UK finance director. Cooper joins from Henley Investment Management, where she led the corporate finance function and designed the financial control environment to enable further growth. Preceding her role at Henley, Cooper worked for Grosvenor Estate for over 17 years. In her new role, Cooper will work alongside the UK co-managing directors Andrew Hilston and Richard Benson to raise UK capital as well as support the investment and performance analysis of Ardent’s acquisitions, leasing and disposals.
Quest Investment Partners – Tanja Gröger has been appointed branch manager for its office in Frankfurt. Since December 2021, Gröger has been leading the Quest Development team that is currently working on five projects in the metropolis on the River Main. Gröger joins from Invesco Real Estate, where she was in charge of project developments in Germany, the Netherlands and Austria in her role as director asset management. In addition, she also served as co-lead of the European ESG team. Prior to this, the real estate economist (IREBS) worked for LBBW Immobilien in Munich and Frankfurt for more than ten years.
BNP Paribas REIM – Jean-Maxime Jouis has been appointed global head of fund management and private investors for BNP Paribas REIM and deputy general manager of BNP Paribas REIM France. He has been a member of the management board since 2019. His new duties will include supervising the lifecycle of funds created for institutional or private investors throughout Europe and coordinating all BNP Paribas REIM private investor business. Paul Darribère has been appointed head of fund management France. He worked at Ernst & Young transaction services, before joining the corporate finance team of Hammerson and then Articular Inversiones in Latin America. Darribère joined BNP Paribas REIM France in 2013 as a fund manager and gradually worked his way up to become team manager then deputy manager of fund management. Charlotte Laffoucrière has been appointed deputy head of fund management France, specifically in charge of European strategies and separate account business. Before joining BNP Paribas REIM in 2012 as a fund manager, then fund management team leader, Laffoucrière was previously an investment manager at Klépierre. Andreas Nixdorf has been appointed head of fund management for BNP Paribas REIM Germany. Since 2016 he has been a senior fund manager, in charge of three German institutional funds and two international club deals, which he will continue to manage in his new role. Before joining BNP Paribas REIM, he was responsible for four German and Luxembourgish special funds as director fund management at IVG Institutional Funds. Elisa Bacchetta has been appointed head of fund management for BNP Paribas REIM Italy. She joined BNP Paribas REIM in 2007 and she fulfilled the roles of transaction manager, head of acquisitions and senior fund manager. Stefanie Gertz has been appointed head of real estate financing, in charge of a European team dedicated to real estate financing activities for all funds managed by BNP Paribas REIM, as well as real estate debt funds managed by BNP Paribas REIM Germany. Before joining BNP Paribas REIM in 2013, she worked for seven years as a senior credit risk manager at Düsserldorfer Hypothekenbank and for eleven years at Bayern LB as head of one of the commercial real estate financing teams.
Fidelis New Energy – The Houston-based independent infrastructure fund manager has hired former ATP senior staff members Ulrik Dan Weuder and Lotte Kemplar to head up its European operations. Fidelis announced it was opening a European headquarters in Copenhagen, appointing Weuder as managing director of Fidelis Europe and Kemplar as general counsel, Fidelis Europe - and deputy general counsel, Fidelis New Energy. The pair both worked for Denmark’s biggest pension fund, with Weuder having been head of global direct investments until September 2020, and Kemplar as its senior legal counsel until January last year. Fidelis said Weuder had over 25 years of experience in planning, investing and managing large infrastructure and complex equity investments, while Kemplar had over 15 years of experience in deal structuring and infrastructure transactions. Weuder was executive director of Danish state recover fund Danmarks Genopretningsfond after leaving ATP, and until this month.
Altera Vastgoed – The real estate investor has appointed Jeroen Post retail asset manager. He joins Altera from Wereldhave, where he worked for several years as leasing manager. Prior to that he worked at BNP Paribas Real Estate and Peters & Van der Vloodt. Post has over six years’ experience in areas including value optimisation, the letting process and the operation of various real estate portfolios.
Patrick Parsons – The provider of engineering consultancy services to commercial, industrial and residential developers, has promoted former COO Neil Hobbs, to managing partner. He takes over leadership of the business from Gail Bamforth, who completed the implementation of a two and a half-year strategy to reshape the business for future sustainable growth. She takes on the role of non-executive director and adviser to the business. He will focus on delivering Patrick Parsons’ growth plan alongside the leadership team - Conor Murphy, who heads up the structural engineering division of the business,
TopHat – The Goldman Sachs-backed modular housebuilder, has hired Lucy Weaver, formerly of FTSE100 firm Halma and Unipart Rail, as group HR director. Weaver, who left Halma in August 2021, will lead the HR agenda for TopHat with a strong focus on recruiting and growing talent and capability as the company looks to increase its current capacity to deliver up to 3,500 factory-built houses and apartments a year by 2025. Prior to her role at Halma, Weaver worked at Unipart Rail. She was responsible for managing 900 employees across 14 sites across the UK.
Apache Capital – The UK living real estate investment manager has appointed former LIV Consult build-to-rent director Ashley Perry as investment director. Prior to his role at Liv Consult - which was acquired by Atlanta-based residential investor-developer-operator Cortland in 2019 - Perry held positions at Canada’s BTY Group and JLL, where he was a senior project and development manager across a number of BTR schemes in London.
HomeNow – The alternative investment has appointed Lord Bob Kerslake to chair its advisory board. He is the former head of the civil service and a previous CEO of the homes and community agency. Tim Farron, the MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale and former leader of the liberal democrats has also joined the board. Also joining are George Kieffer, chairman of the Estuary Housing Association and Haven Gateway Partnership; Anya Martin, director of PricedOut and Research and Insight Manager of NCVO; Gagan Mohindra, MP for South West Hertfordshire; and Gabrielle Berring, former real estate banker with experience as non-executive director with a number of housing led organisations.
