Oklahoma Teachers’ Retirement System intends to invest $440m (€386.7m) in 2025 under its inaugural infrastructure pacing plan.
As previously reported, the pension fund had established a 3% allocation to infrastructure for the first time.
Oklahoma Teachers expects to make its initial infrastructure commitments in the second half of this year, by committing to up to two open-ended funds, according to its board meeting document.
Investment consultant AON Investment USA disclosed in the meeting document open-ended funds provide a more immediate long-term impact relative to close-ended funds.
The consultant is also of the view that mid-market core-plus and value-add funds represent the optimal value proposition for infrastructure investment.
Oklahoma Teachers said it has also made a $100m commitment to Ares Industrial Real Estate Fund. Ares, the manager of the core open-ended US industrial fund, declined a request for comment.
According to the meeting document, approximately $2.9bn of equity commitments had been called for the Ares fund with around $60m of uncalled capital as at the end of 2024.
