La Caisse is investing C$280m (€174m) to take full control of a 7.2km Canadian road concession from Transurban, buying out the remaining 50% stake three years after its initial investment.
The C$517bn Canadian institutional investor has agreed to acquire Transurban’s interest in the A25 Concession link, consisting of a highway and toll bridge serving Greater Montréal and its residents.
La Caisse initially invested C$355m in 2023 to acquire its first 50% stake from Transurban, an Australian toll road operator with a portfolio of more than 20 roads across Australia and North America.
Following the full takeover, La Caisse portfolio company Plenary Americas will assume day-to-day operations of the asset.
Emmanuel Jaclot, EVP and head of infrastructure and sustainability at La Caisse, said: “By becoming sole owner, La Caisse strengthens its position in a Québec asset it knows well, while gaining greater flexibility in its management.
“As one of only two public-private partnership toll roads in Québec, the A25 Concession plays an important role in mobility across Greater Montréal by connecting the east end of Montréal to fast-growing economic areas on the North Shore.”
