Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund has allocated $200m (€182m) each to Cohen & Steers and Brookfield Asset Management to invest in listed infrastructure.

The pension fund said the capital placed in the separate accounts with Cohen & Steers and Brookfield  will be used to target listed infrastructure on a global basis.

Cohen & Steers and Brookfield declined a request for comment.

Illinois Municipal said it has also approved a $30m commitment to Newport Capital Partners Fund III.

According to people familiar with the Newport Capital Partners fund, the fund is close to achieving its $250m to $300m fundraising target.

Including Illinois Municipal’s commitment, the manager has so far raised $135m for the value-add US fund which targets neighbourhood and community retail centres. 

Illinois Municipal also made a €20m commitment to the Ares Project Horizon Co-Investment real estate fund.

The pension fund said the Ares Project Horizon Co-Investment will invest in logistics assets alongside Ares European Real Estate Fund VI. 

As previously reported, the New Mexico State Investment Council approved a €100m commitment to the Ares fund which is seeking to raise €2.5bn.
