Illinois State Universities Retirement System (SURS) has approved a $75m (€68.2m) commitment to a US open-ended life science and technology-related real estate fund managed by GI Partners.
The pension fund’s commitment, which is subject to finalising the new agreement with GI Partners, has been made to the GI Real Estate Essential Tech + Science Fund (ETS Fund).
GI Partners announced the launch of the ETS Fund in July last year to seek investments in real estate assets that “continuously operate in order to support mission-critical functions of the technology and life sciences industries”.
The ETS Fund will seek to acquire data centre properties, life sciences assets, and always on research & development facilities within the office and industrial sectors.
As previously reported Employees Retirement System of Texas also approved a $100m commitment to the ETS Fund.
