Illinois Firefighters Pension Investment Fund has issued a request for proposal (RFP) with the aim of selecting one to three infrastructure fund managers.

The $8.8bn (€74bn) pension fund said it intends to allocate $80m each year to the selected manager or managers, to help reach its targeted infrastructure allocation of 4%.

Illinois Firefighters Pension made its maiden infrastructure commitments this year, allocating $80m to the KKR Diversified Core Index Fund and $70m to the IFM Global Infrastructure Fund.

The newly issued RFP will focus on selecting large-market, non-core, closed-ended infrastructure funds. Prospective managers must possess a fund with a targeted capitalisation of $5bn or more to be considered eligible for the search.

The pension fund has not disclosed a specific timeline for reaching a final decision regarding the selection of the manager.
