Henley has moved into the UK build-to-rent (BTR) sector with a newly launched £300m (€344.1m) investment strategy and the appointment of a team led by Jonathon Ivory.

The $3bn (€2.66bn) global private equity real estate manager has appointed the former managing director Atlas Residential to lead the team which will focus on the acquisition, development, asset management and operation of BTR assets throughout the UK.

Prior to Atlas, Ivory held positions at the real estate investment bank Carlton Group, specialist property developer The Raven Group and Legal & General.

Ian Rickwood, CEO of Henley Investments, said: “Ivory brings with him an extensive track record and impressive expertise. This will be put to good effect as we seek to capitalise on this growing sector and service the increased demand for high-quality rental accommodation of varying price points throughout the UK.”

Justin Meissel, CIO and managing director Europe, Henley Investments, said: “Ivory and his team’s expertise perfectly compliment Henley’s extensive investment, development and operational experience.

”This marks a significant step towards realising Henley BTR’s ambitions in the UK rental residential sector, and is a natural extension of our firm’s capabilities.”

Founded in 2006, Henley launched its first fund in August 2017 to target the UK’s supported-housing sector.
