EEW Eco Energy World has partnered with Grupo Cobra to develop a 200MWdc solar farm plus 50MW battery energy storage system (BESS) project in a state in north-eastern Australia.

The project in Queensland will generate more than 400GWh of clean and sustainable energy annually once completed.

The project is set to reach ready-to-build status in the current year and IPE Real Assets understands it will be worth A$250m (€151m).

Svante Kumlin, CEO of EEW, said: “We are pleased to announce the collaboration on this project with Grupo Cobra; we have a long successful presence in Australia, and this is one of the projects out of our multi-GW pipeline in the country, which matures currently.

“This project is a testament to our commitment to provide innovative and sustainable energy for Australia; we are proud to be part of the Queensland energy transition since 2015.”

José Antonio Fernández García, managing director of energy and industrial plants at Vinci-owned Cobra, said: “We are excited to be working with EEW on this project. This partnership is a clear indication of our commitment to accelerating the transition to a low-carbon future.”
