Conservation Resources Partners has launched its latest North American regenerative farmland fund and teamed up with Dutch asset manager Achmea Investment Management to help source capital and align the fund’s financial returns with impact objectives.
Conservation Resources Farmland II (CRF II) follows on from the US-based fund manager’s inaugural impact farmland fund, launched in 2024.
It has been approved for inclusion on the multi-asset impact platform of Achmea IM, which invests on behalf of Dutch pension funds and insurers, including parent insurance company Achmea.
The platform invests across several asset classes, including private equity, private debt, infrastructure and real assets, and focuses on four core impact themes: climate, biodiversity, health, and equal opportunities.
Achmea IM will act as investment adviser to anchor investors that invest directly in CRF II or through a feeder fund, along with additional Achmea IM clients.
CRF II will target opportunities in North American farmland and associated value-chain assets by using “impact capital” that seeks to address the unintended environmental consequences of industrial agriculture, the company said.
Stavros Koutsantonis, chief operating officer and portfolio manager for Conservation Resources’ agricultural investment strategies, said: “We are excited to work with Achmea IM to scale this important impact-investing initiative. As the world continues to recognise the unintended impacts of farming on soil health, water, greenhouse-gas emissions and biodiversity, we see a sizeable opportunity to implement our differentiated impact strategy for investing in the agriculture sector.
“Achmea IM and Conservation Resources share a belief that impact investments done right should achieve financial return goals, while also delivering intentional and measurable positive environmental and social outcomes.”
Karlijn van Lierop, head of impact investing at Achmea IM, said. “By investing in forestry and agriculture, we actively support the protection and restoration of biodiversity – an essential foundation for climate resilience and the global economy. Biodiversity is a core priority for many of our clients within impact investing. Through our commitment to the CRF II fund, we deliver measurable environmental impact while achieving robust financial returns.”
