EUROPE - Henderson Global Investors has appointed Katherine Croom as portfolio manager for its pan-European retail property fund, Herald.

Croom previously worked for CB Richard Ellis' London retail development team where she advised investors and retailers on large mix-use shopping centre schemes through their development stages and spent time with the portfolio valuation and retail asset management divisions.

Kay Jackson, head of asset management for Herald, said: "Despite the slowdown in the transaction market we remain focused on our asset management and development activities. The addition of Katherine to our team will enable us to further ensure that Herald's strategic programme continues a pace."

Herald, valued at approximately €1bn, was launched in December 2005 and invests in retail warehouses and shopping centres in European countries, focusing particularly on Spain, Italy, France and Germany.

The Fund is structured as a Fonds Commun de Placement (FCP), an investment fund based in Luxembourg, and targets assets that offer asset management, refurbishment and development opportunities.

Henderson Global Investors managed over €12.1bn of property funds across Europe and Asia to the end of September 2008.
