GLOBAL - Connecticut Retirement Plans and Trust Funds, CIC, Catella, Cordea Savills, Hearthstone Investments, FREY, Savills

Connecticut Retirement Plans and Trust Funds - Cherie Santos-Wuest, previously director of global social and community investments at the $464bn (€354bn) TIAA-CREF, has joined the $25bn state pension funds as principal investment officer for real estate. Since departing TIAA-CREF in March last year, Santos-Wuest has worked as managing director at Abundant Power Group and managing partner at Celadon Venture Advisors.

China Investment Corporation - China's sovereign wealth fund has promoted Xiaoqing Bai, previously head of North American equities, to global head of real estate following the departure of Patrick Wu - who was in the role a few months after replacing Collin Lau. Bai has been promoted to head up the European private equity portfolio.

Catella - The Swedish real estate company's German arm has launched a subsidiary focusing entirely on residential units in the country. Alongside Catella Property's chief executive Klaus Franken, Frank Zweigner has been hired to oversee the new group. Zweigner joins from Deutsche Erbpacht, where he started as head of acquisitions and was named joint managing director alongside founder Timo Herbrand in 2008. Herbrand told IP Real Estate no replacement for Zweigner had been appointed to date.

Cordea Savills - John Claxon joins as director of investment to lead the company's UK segregated mandate business, reporting to executive director and head of UK investment George Tindley. Claxon joins from BNP Paribas Real Estate Investment Management, where he worked with several UK pension funds.

Hearthstone Investments - Joining from the Mansion Group, Darren Stent has been named business development manager, following the appointment late last month of Mike Kirch as non-executive director. Prior to his time at Mansion, Stent worked at Canada Life, Gerrard Investment Management and Standard Life.

FREY - François-Xavier Anglade has been appointed director of asset management and acquisitions. Anglade will be responsible for a team of four people, which currently manages the company's real estate portfolio. He will also run the newly launched Frey Retail Fund created alongside PREDICA and AG Real Estate at the end of last year. Anglade joins from Unibail-Rodamco, where he was director of programmes.

Savills - Danny Kinnoch has been named European retail director at the company's cross-border investment team based in London, having worked in Savills' Spanish investment team since 2007. Prior to joining Savills Madrid, Kinnoch worked for CB Richard Ellis.
