REAL ESTATE - Wim van der Kooij has joined Arlington’s Amsterdam office to co-manage a fund for Swedish pensions firm Alecta Pensionförsäkring.

Van der Kooij, who used to manage the Dutch steelworkers’ pension fund, joins Arlington from distribution firm ProLogis, where he managed distribution centres in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Sweden and Central Europe.

His appointment coincides with the planned acquisition of further office assets for the Alecta fund.

In his new role, van der Kooij will also build up acquisitions for a €500m logistics fund Arlington plans to launch later this year to invest in Western and Central Europe.

In May the nascent fund made its first two acquisitions, paying €58m for two logistics parks in Lyon and Lille.

Bob Reidsma, who heads the seven-fund Amsterdam operation, also manages both the Alecta and an existing logistics fund. He said he was looking to appoint one more fund manager to join the now three-strong Dutch investment team.
