Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) has invested £95m (€110m) in a portfolio of children’s nurseries and a school in the UK.
USS said it has acquired the PINE unit trust from private equity fund manager Epiris.
PINE is let to various tenants on long-term, index-linked leases.
Alex Turner, deputy head of property USS, said: “This was a particularly attractive opportunity for us, in line with our strategy for targeting index-linked, longer-lease property which will produce long-term, stable returns for the benefit of our participating employers and members.”
The deal follows the £100m launch this year of the Supported Housing Investment Limited Partnership – a joint venture between USS and Morgan Sindall Investments. USS is providing 95% of the capital, with MSIL retaining a 5% stake and acting as asset, property, and portfolio manager.
