Valad - European chief executive Martyn McCarthy and managing director Peter Hurley are leading a proposed management buyout of the Australian company's European business. Hurley has agreed to take a leave of absence from the managing director role due to his interest in the buyout proposal. His duties will be shared between Valad's existing senior leadership team with oversight from Valad's chairman Trever Gerber. Consideration is being given to appointing an acting chief executive.
Asia Property Fund - The joint venture between PRUPIM and LaSalle Investment Management has named Erle Spratt as fund manager and Yung Ho as investment manager. Spratt will develop and oversee the execution of the APF's investment strategy and will lead capital raising initiatives and investor relations in collaboration with the LaSalle client services team. Ho will drive and implement APF's investment and asset management strategies. Spratt joins from Lend Lease Investment Management (Lend Lease) in Singapore, where he was fund manager of the Asian Retail Investment Fund and head of origination. Ho has been with LaSalle since 2000 and in Asia since 2001. She helped establish LaSalle's Korea office and was responsible for the acquisition of the Nara building in Seoul, which is now an asset of APF.
SEGRO - David Sleath is to replace Ian Coull as chief executive of the industrial real estate investment trust (REIT). Sleath is currently group finance director and will take up the role following Coull's retirement on 1 April 2011.
Henderson Global Investors - Jamie Acheson has joined as asset manager for Henderson's €1.3bn European Outlet Mall Fund. Acheson joins from Colliers International where he worked for six years in the retail development team, working largely on shopping centre development projects in emerging markets.
Bouwfonds REIM - Ruud Roosen has been hired to run the Bouwfonds European Real Estate Parking Fund II which is launching at the beginning of next year. Roosen was previously an associate director in the real estate department at NIBC Investment Management. Earlier he worked in various positions at firms including Mn Services and PRC Bouwcentrum.
Urban Land Institute - Marc Mogull, founder of Benson Elliot Capital Management, has been appointed as chairman of ULI's UK national council. He will succeed Jos Short, chairman of Internos Real Investors, who has served in the voluntary role since June 2009.
UBS Global Asset Management - Peter Mackaness joins global Threadneedle, where he was a property investment specialist, to head business development in the UK.
Scottish Widows Investment Partnership - Peter Macpherson has been appointed as commercial director within SWIP's real estate team. He was formerly head of client services and business development for ING Real Estate Investment Management in the UK.
