The State of Wisconsin Investment Board (SWIB) has doubled the size of Buchanan Street Partners’ real estate mandate and is investing with another fund manager for the first time.
The pension fund has provided an additional $100m (€93.5m) to Buchanan to invest in core-plus real estate in the western and southern regions of the US, according to a board meeting document.
SWIB told IPE Real Estate that it first awarded Buchanan a $100m real estate mandate in 2014.
Buchanan invests across property sectors for SWIB without full investment discretion.
SWIB is also committing $75m to an US industrial real estate fund, High Street Real Estate Fund V.
It is the first time that the pension fund has invested with the fund’s manager, High Street Equity Advisors.
The fund will invest exclusively in industrial properties on the US east coast.
SWIB said: “There is demand for well-located industrial properties near major population centers, in part due to e-commerce growth.”
