London-based flexible office provider Workspace has announced plans to certifty 50 buildings across its portfolio to a Wired Certified Gold rating or above by 2019.
The international connectivity rating scheme WiredScore has already approved 15 of Workspace's locations, and Workspace's operations director Chris Pieroni said that the onus was to broaden that recogonition still further.
'The work we are doing to secure these ratings reiterates our commitment to the needs of our occupiers and the globally recognised seal of approval should reassure our customers,' Pieroni said.
'Given (London's) strength in attracting and growing business, you would expect all businesses to have access to the same standard of high-speed, resilient connectivity. Instead there is a significant variance, which has traditionally disadvantaged smaller organisations that don’t have the resources for a dedicated team to maintain their digital infrastructure,' he added.
Workspace's offices currently host around 4,000 businesses in its sites across the capital, including the City, Kennington, Farringdon and London Bridge.
'As an advertising technology company, it is crucial that our own tech capabilities are of the highest quality, and the Wired Certified Platinum rating gives us peace of mind that the infrastructure in our office will support our operations,' said Mark Bembridge, CEO of Smartology, based at Workspace’s Metal Box Factory in Southwark.
William Newton, President & EMEA Managing Director, WiredScore, said: 'Connectivity is critical to business operations. By seeking a Wired Certified Gold rating or above for 50 buildings of their portfolio, Workspace has demonstrated its outstanding commitment to delivering excellent connectivity in its properties and making sure its tenants are in a space they can thrive in.'
WiredScore launched Wired Certification in 2013 in partnership with the City of New York. Following success in the US, WiredScore won the Greater London Authority’s tender to be the official Mayor of London Digital Connectivity Rating Scheme in October 2015. To date, 400 million ft2 (37 million m2) of commercial real estate has been Wired Certified globally.
