Swedish commercial property developer Wihlborgs has been awarded a SEK 300 mln (€26.6 mln) contract from the Skåne Region for the construction of a warehouse in the Malmö area.
The 17,200 m2 property will be used for logistics and to house inventory.
The building will be constructed to a high technical standard and feature environmental certification.
Occupancy is expected in early 2025, while the lease term will be 20 years.
Ulrika Hallengren, CEO of Wihlborgs, said: ‘We are delighted to be building a modern, fit-for-purpose and sustainable facility for Region Skåne and look forward to a long-term partnership in an area with a critical function for society.’
Separately, Wihlborgs has kicked off the transformation of the historic Malmö Börshus, with the aim of upgrading it to a more modern and energy efficient standard, and to reinstate the original appearance of the building.
At the same time, the renovation will create a more open and accessible meeting place for Malmö residents and visitors, though a mix of offices, conference facilities and restaurants.
Wihlborgs Fastigheter focuses on commercial properties in the Öresund region, and its property portfolio is located in Malmö, Helsingborg, Lund and Copenhagen.
