US real estate investment firm Westcore has carried out its first transaction in Germany with the acquisition of the Anthropolis office complex in Berlin from Goldman Sachs' Archon Group.

Price details were not disclosed.

The office park has a leasable area of 36,700 m2, of which 16,000 m2 is located in historic buildings.

Westcore spokesman Robert Roethenmund said the company plans to upgrade and rebrand the complex, where Albert Einstein once had an office. ‘The project is particularly well suited for Berlin’s growing international and technologically oriented businesses. The office complex offers a green campus-like feel to an urban setting, in keeping with the green attraction of Berlin itself,’ he said.

Headquartered in San Diego, California, Westcore focuses on multi-tenant industrial and office properties and has over €3 bn in assets. Besides Germany, its investments in Europe are located in Switzerland and Austria.
