Dutch-based property group Wereldhave has reported an increase of more than 15 percent in its net profit during the first nine months of 2006. The profit for the first three quarters of the year, consisting of direct and indirect result, increased to EUR 185.4 mln in 2006, the company reported Wednesday. This reflects a rise of EUR 24.5 mln over the same period in 2005, when profits totalled EUR 160.9 mln.

This reflects a rise of EUR 24.5 mln over the same period in 2005, when profits totalled EUR 160.9 mln.
Direct result, reflecting rental income minus costs, fell from EUR 86.8 mln in the first three quarters of 2005 to EUR 84.5 mln in 2006. However indirect result, which reflects property values, rose from EUR 74.1 mln to EUR 100.9 mln.
The property development and leasing company also announced it had completed Tuesday the purchase of an office building in Washington DC for a purchase price of USD 131.5 mln (EUR 103 mln). The building, which is leased to the United States Mint until October 2019, has a total area of 22,100 m2.
