Benelux logistics specialist WDP is building a 62,000 m2 new warehouse for tyre manufacturer Pirelli in Romania for an outlay of €40 mln.
The warehouse will be connected to Pirelli's existing factory at the same location in Slatina to accommodate the company's expansion. After construction is completed in the third quarter of 2020 the property will be leased to Pirelli for a fixed term of 15 years.
Jeroen Bierman, partner and general manager of WDP in Romania, said: 'The realisation of this new-build warehouse will enable Pirelli to optimise its main production site and future-proof this facility'.
WDP announced in January it was expanding its operations in Romania and aims to build a €500 mln portfolio. Bierman's stake in the Romanian unit was reduced from 49% to 20% as a result of the capital increase.
