Warimpex has announced the opening of its four-star Andel's design hotel in the Polish city of Lodz. The hotel was built on the abandoned site of a weaving mill established by textile magnate Izrael Poznanski in 1878.

The Vienna and Warsaw-listed real estate investment company said the building near the old town centre had been transformed into a 'shining example of how historic industrial architecture can blend with modern design'.

Over the past two-and-a-half years, the Polish-Austrian architectural firm OP Architekten Ziviltechniker GmbH, led by Wojciech Poplawski, renovated the red-brick building in line with the guidelines governing the restoration of historic structures and oversaw its careful conversion into a modern 278- room hotel with a spacious conference center.

The interior design is the work of the London-based star designers Jestico + Whiles.
