The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) has confirmed that its European Conference is going ahead in Prague on 28 & 29 April. Many industry events across Europe - including the annual conference of the European association of non-listed real estate fund's annual conference - were cancelled last week due to the Icelandic volcano eruption stopping all international travel for five days.

Ermine Amies, managing director of ICSC in Europe, said: 'It's been a busy and uncertain few days for us and we’ve been watching the news daily and making contingency plans in case flights did not start again. However, there had been overwhelming demand from those registered for the conference to go ahead and that’s what we are doing.'

The contingency plans included chartering coaches from across Europe to collect delegates, including a potential 22-hour ride from the UK to Prague.

'Our European Conference is seen as the most important opportunity in the year for shopping centre professionals to meet and it would have been a massive disappointment if it had to be postponed,' added Ermine.
